{"id":1237,"date":"2020-04-18T15:38:34","date_gmt":"2020-04-18T15:38:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jamesmassa.dreamhosters.com\/scrumseeblog\/?page_id=1237"},"modified":"2020-11-14T23:12:07","modified_gmt":"2020-11-14T23:12:07","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jamesmassa.dreamhosters.com\/scrumseeblog\/home\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"boldgrid-section\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-sm-12\">\n<h2 class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"\">Agile Scrum is easy and makes us happy&nbsp;<i class=\"fas fa-smile-beam fa-2x\" style=\"color: darkgreen;\"><\/i><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\">We learn Scrum through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/agilemanifesto.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Agile Manifesto<\/a>, which teaches us to value people over tools, and through the intuitive universal&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.visual-paradigm.com\/tutorials\/agile-tutorial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scrum Process Diagram<\/a>&nbsp;which shows how the Scrum&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thedigitalprojectmanager.com\/scrum-ceremonies-made-simple\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> ceremonies<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.visual-paradigm.com\/scrum\/what-are-the-three-scrum-roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> roles<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tutorialspoint.com\/scrum\/scrum_artifacts.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> artifacts<\/a>&nbsp;work together.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"\">Practicing Scrum with Jira is hard and makes us sad&nbsp;<i class=\"fas fa-sad-tear fa-2x\" style=\"color: darkred;\"><\/i><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\">We need and use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlassian.com\/software\/jira\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jira<\/a> because it is powerful and reliable but Jira was originally developed for bug tracking, not Scrum. Shoehorning Scrum into Jira causes <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@jiajingguo\/how-is-data-visualization-influenced-by-our-cognitive-processes-281d8486abfe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cognitive overload<\/a> because &#8220;Jira Scrum&#8221; is&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">INCOMPLETE:&nbsp; Jira partially models the scrum process but omits major scrum ceremonies such as the retrospective, showcase, and estimation poker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">INEFFECTIVE:&nbsp; Jira starts with low-level stories without grounding us with the high level and universal Scrum Diagram. Thus, we must mentally maps the diagram to Jira, filling in Scrum Ceremonies not included in Jira<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">NON-VISUAL:&nbsp; Jira relies heavily on text.&nbsp; Visualizations are in an ancillary section outside the daily flow so many teams don&#8217;t use them enough.&nbsp; Moreover, the visualizations require teams to find and notice the relevant actionable meaning.
